StarLux aims to produce one to two carefully planned litter(s) per year, though some years may have longer intervals between litters. Each breeding is thoughtfully evaluated to improve the prospects of the next generation, ensuring puppies are well-prepared for their future homes. Breeding strategies are developed in collaboration with seasoned mentors and experienced breeders, reflecting our belief that improving the Border Collie breed is a collective effort within the community.

Puppy Raising Philosophy & Early Development

Puppies are nurtured in a home environment, where they are exposed to everyday household noises, routines, and family life. We believe dogs are integral members of the family and should grow up within a domestic setting.

Key Components of Our Program:

• Socialization: Interaction with other dogs, cats, and livestock, plus experiences such as car rides, grooming, and exposure to common household stimuli.

• Early Handling & Stimulation: Gentle, age-appropriate handling using the ENS (Early Neurological Stimulation) and Puppy Culture Programs to support physical, mental, and emotional development.

• Temperament Testing: Each puppy undergoes evaluation via a qualified assessor using the Volhard Puppy Aptitude Test and Pat Hastings’ Puppy Puzzle to assess early behavioral traits.

• Positive Reinforcement: Early training incorporates praise and treats to foster focus, confidence, and a strong foundation for lifelong learning.

The goal is to produce puppies that are healthy, confident, adaptable, and breed-typical, with a foundation for success in both family life and future performance endeavors.

Placement & Expectations

StarLux puppies are placed thoughtfully with homes that understand the needs of a Border Collie. We consider energy level, lifestyle, and long-term training goals to ensure a compatible match.

Buyer Considerations:

• Border Collies require daily mental and physical stimulation.

• A commitment to training, socialization, and enrichment is essential.

• StarLux offers lifetime guidance to support owners in raising balanced and successful dogs.

An application will be sent after initial contact and brief phone interview discussing your family's lifestyle, what you are looking for, etc, this helps me match you to the best possible puppy. Applications are reviewed thoughtfully, prioritizing homes that align with our philosophy and long-term program goals.
